Sunday Mornings with the Nitro- 10/24/2021

Paul ” The Nitro” Skivers

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro! Thanks for joining us as we look back at this week in the world of pro wrestling. I decided that this week will be a week that I give some random thoughts on what happened this past week. Just some random thoughts. Let us begin!

A big congratulations to Mickie James and the IInspiration(formerly the Iconics in the WWE) for winning the Impact Wrestling Knockouts singles and tag team championships respectively. I have been a fan of Mickie, as well as the IInspiration for a long time and they both deserve the titles that they earned last night. A definite boost to Impact Wrestling in the Womens division and certain fans should keep an eye out for Impact Wrestling, which is seen every Thursday night on AXS TV, in the near future.

WWE Crown Jewel was a good pay-per-view with an exciting Hell in the Cell match to start the show, but we kind of knew that the WWE was going to keep the belts on Big E and Roman Reigns as they are the top dogs in the WWE at this time. A little surprised that they went with Zelina to being the Queen’s Crown winner and Xavier Woods as the King of the Ring. Maybe, we get to see some type of push from the promotion real soon. It will be interesting to see where the projection of the careers of Zelina and Xavier goes from here.

Speaking about the womens division in the WWE, let us discuss the “championship swap” fiasco that occured this past Friday on Smackdown. I don’t know if this is the proof that the WWE needs to know that Charlotte Flair does not want to be here in the WWE anymore. Charlotte can see the writing on the wall as Becky Lynch becomes the top woman in the division and Sasha is running things on Smackdown and pushing Bianca Belair to the top on Raw. As far as I’m concerned, I have told everyone that Charlotte is ready to leave the WWE right now and go to AEW where her Andrade is competing at this time. So, I am going to make a bold prediction and say that on January 1st, we will either be hearing Charlotte asking for her release and dropping the Smackdown womens title at Survivor Series or has already left WWE and will be competing in AEW by April 2022. Mark my words, this is going to happen!

Finally, let us talk about the tournaments in AEW that are going on right now. The World Title eliminator tournament has been interesting with one semifinal match set with Bryan Danielson battling Eddie Kingston and possibly Orange Cassidy fighting Jon Moxley in the other semifinal. I feel that it will be Moxley vs. Danielson in the finals and that will be a great match at Full Gear with Danielson getting the win and securing the rematch with Kenny Omega for the World Title at the next pay-per-view. Meanwhile, I have a little problem with the TBS Title tournament(the equivalent to the US Title for women, which is one step underneath the AEW Womens title)and that is why do we have four first round byes and they are given to the top 4 contenders in the tournament. I feel that they should wrestle in the first round just like everyone else and if one of these “bye” wrestlers wins the tournament, then the win is already tainted by the fact they got a bye in the first round. In conclusion, I feel that Ruby Soho will win this tournament and become the TBS champion!

Before we go, I have an announcement to make and that is I am getting into the podcast world! Coming real soon is a new show that I am creating called SATURDAY NIGHTS WITH THE NITRO! This show will look back at the week in pro wrestling more in depth and give you a no holds barred opinion on the sport. It will be available on Spotify and Anchor. I will let you know of the date of the first episode next week. Don’t worry, I will still be writing my column here every Sunday Morning!

With that in mind, we have come to the end of this week’s episode of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. Thanks for reading and see you next Sunday Morning! Have a great week everyone!

Sunday Mornings with the Nitro- 10/17/2021

Paul ” The Nitro” Skivers

Welcome to another edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro and thanks for joining us. With WWE Crown Jewel coming this Thursday on Peacock, let us look at the card and give some predictions, as well as ask why they are giving this “Mega Card” event away when they can save it for Wrestlemania.

WWE Universal Championship- Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar

The key element in this is the “allegiance” of Paul Heyman. Will Paul choose the tribal chief or go with the Beast?! This will be the key element in this power struggle that we have seen happen in the past between these two competitors.

Winner: Roman Reigns

WWE Championship Match- Big E vs. Drew McIntyre

This is the match that Drew will hand the “Raw Ball” off to Big E and endorse him as the WWE Champion. Drew is headed to Smackdown and it would make no sense for him to win the WWE Championship and then bring that belt to Smackdown that has the Universal Title.

Winner: Big E

WWE Smackdown Womens Championship- Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair vs. Sasha Banks

This is the same situation as the above match with both Becky and Bianca going to Raw, so it would make more sense for Sasha to win the title and be the top female wrestler on Smackdown and it will be obvious that they will go to the well again with Charlotte vs. Sasha again. Meanwhile, Becky and Bianca will probably feud on Raw beginning next Monday.

Winner and New Smackdown Womens Champion- Sasha Banks

No Holds Barred- Goldberg vs. Bobby Lashley

Can you say the same result as Summerslam except Bobby will pin Goldberg this time. Why would you want to waste Bobby’s time in a meaningless feus with Goldberg who does not have what it takes anymore. Sorry, but you can see it at the Summerslam match that Goldberg could not hang with Bobby after 5 minutes.

Winner- Bobby Lashley

Hell in the Cell- Seth Rollins vs. Edge

This will be the match of the night as both men will pull out all the stops and it is now personal, which will add more fuel to the fire. Both men will try everything out of their bodies and minds to destroy each other. However, I feel that Seth will get a slight edge in this battle, no pun intended since he is younger and has more endurance.

Winner- Seth Rollins

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship- RK Bro vs. AJ Styles/Omos

I have no comment on this match as we have seen this so many times in the past three months and nothing exciting comes out of this match.

Winner- RK Bro

King and Queen of the Ring- As far as who will win this tournament, I will say that Jinder Mahal will be King of the Ring because this will be an international event and Jinder would be a solid pick to win the event and he has been on a roll as of late. As far as the queen of the ring, it will be Shayna Bazler because she has been aligned with Sonya Deville as of Friday and their will be some political stroke in the outcome of the finals.

With the predictions out of the way, I want to know why this type of card is on Crown Jewel and not a part of Wrestlemania or at the very least Survivor Series. I know it is going to be in Saudi Arabia, but you just do not give away this kind of card on a lower level type of card like Crown Jewel. You can have a standard card at Crown Jewel that can start to set up for a Survivor Series or Wrestlemania. This is another mistake in many that the WWE is doing as of late and it is starting to cost them big time along with the other mistakes that were made this year alone. For that reason, I feel that AEW is smiling this morning at the blunder that the WWE is doing at this time. But, I am not in charge of the WWE, so Vince and company can do what they want, but hopefully they can wake up and make the changes that are necessary to make the climb back to the top.

That is all for this week on Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. Thanks for reading and have a good week everyone. See you next Sunday morning!

Sunday Mornings with the Nitro-10/10/2021

Paul ” The Nitro” Skivers

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. For the second week in the row, it is time to get critical of what the WWE is doing in specifics, the WWE Draft. But, I will also be critical of a certain AEW star and his new reality show. So, grab a cup of coffee and let us discuss the Draft!

The WWE Draft is the second straight week that the WWE has dropped the ball, because this draft was so predictable that it lost my interest real early. I think that we already knew that the WWE Universal and World Champion was the number one pick for Smackdown and Raw respectively. It is no surprise to the fans that they would never trade their top champion to the other brand. Another move that was not surprising was they swapped out Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch so that it pleases Becky(who in my mind has sold out “The Man” gimmick to Hollywood) so that she can be working on the same brand as her husband Seth. Meanwhile, Charlotte is going to be put in mediocre feuds until she leaves for AEW(it will happen once her contract expires). I feel that this is the move to put Becky in the top spot in the female division on WWE. I wonder where this ascension will go in the near future. Finally, the rest of the draft was uneventful as it is mostly mid-carders getting drafted to Raw and Smackdown. In conclusion, this is why the WWE is number two in the wrestling world next to AEW. However, AEW is not escaping criticism this week from me as I focus now on a certain AEW star and his “reality show”.

This past Wednesday saw the debut of “Rhodes on Top” on TNT. This reality show follows the lives of Cody and Brandi Rhodes, as well as the behind the scenes happenings of AEW Dynamite. I feel that this will lead to the downfall of Cody Rhodes based on overexposure of himself and the “heat” that it will generate from the rest of AEW for real. Their are just so many moments where it is okay to expose a little behind the curtain in the lives of a certain wrestler, but in a position like Cody as executive vice president of AEW as well as a competitor in the ring, it is not wise at all. I feel that anything that comes out of the series may rub anyone in AEW the wrong way and it will end up turning venomous on Cody and Brandi. It will eventually affect them as both individuals and as a couple and it will be interesting how they are going to be able to handle that situation. Finally, the overexposure factor of seeing Cody and Brandi too much on AEW television may overshadow some of the talent in AEW and the fans will get tired of it real quick.

Well, that will do it for this episode of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. Thank you for joining us and have a great week everyone. See you next Sunday Morning.

Sunday Mornings with the Nitro- 10/3/2021

Paul ” The Nitro” Skivers

Welcome to another edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. Good morning as we start on another great week of action, I have an interesting gripe on the WWE this week and how AEW can capitalize on it. So, grab that hot cup of coffee and get ready as we begin with a journey back to possibly the worst pay-per-view of the year- WWE Extreme Rules!

Let’s be honest right from the start. WWE Extreme Rules, which was held this past Sunday was possible the worst pay-per-view of the year for several reasons:

  1. The pay-per-view was so predictable before the show even went on the air. We all knew that Roman was going to retain the Universal Title against the Demon Finn Balor. Their was no way the WWE was going to have Roman drop the title to Finn three weeks before Crown Jewel and Roman’s bout with Brock Lesnar. Speaking of all the champions, look how predictable it was that the champions were going to somehow retain the titles. Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair were not going to lose their respective titles on that night. The “Creative” team at WWE have bigger plans for them at the Draft(something to discuss next week.). It was just so predictable that their was no motivation to watch the event.
  2. The pay-per-view itself was boring from start to finish. Their was no investment in getting the fans excited about the event with Crown Jewel coming in three weeks. I feel that the WWE just threw away this pay-per-view to make a quick buck and satisfy the executives at Peacock(their streaming service that the WWE is on these days.) so that they can hype Crown Jewel in three weeks with Brock vs. Roman.
  3. Finally, the WWE Draft was going to start this week, so the fans attention will probably be on who is getting drafted to which brand. In essence, the fans basically knew what would the outcome of each match on the pay-per-view and suck any emotional investment out of it.

With these reasons in mind, how can AEW take advantage of this flop? Simply, by not doing the reasons stated above and focusing on producing the best action that the promotion puts out each week. They should put out great matches with as little predictability as possible so that the fans can make the emotional investment in the match. Basically, AEW should stick to their formula that has made them successful over the past two years and their Grand Slam event in Queens, NY. as part of Dynamite was a major success and will probably continue to have that success.

In conclusion, the WWE dropped the ball with Extreme Rules and will get no reprieve over this failure and now the fans have little or any investment in paying attention to WWE at this time. Meanwhile, AEW is moving ever closer each week to becoming the number one organization in the world today. I wonder if the WWE is regretting this flop!

That is it for this edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. Have a great week and see you next Sunday Morning.

Sunday Mornings with the Nitro- 9/26/2021

Paul” The Nitro” Skivers

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. It has been another great week of action and we begin with resuming with the top 10 of my PWI 500.

Last week, I began my top 10 of the PWI 500 and for those who missed it last week, let me refresh everyone with my picks from 10 to 6 and then, I will start with my top 5.

10. MJF

9. Christian Cage

8. King Nakamura

7. Charlotte Flair

6. Kenny Omega

5. Nick Aldis- Nick established himself as the longest reigning NWA World Champion of the past decade throughout most of the year beating Aron Stevens and Mike Bennett before losing the title in St. Louis at the Chase Hotel grand ballroom to Trevor Murdoch. Just that sheer accomplishment alone makes Nick a hot commodity in the world of pro wrestling and I have no doubt that he will regain the NWA World Title before the end of the year.

4. Dr. Britt Baker- The doctor had a breakthrough year thus far in the lights out match against Thunder Rosa on Dynamite back in March and then winning the AEW Womens Championship from Hikaru Shida in May. She has become the face of not only in the Womens division, but in AEW as well. If her dominance continues, she could be a prime candidate for Woman of the Year at the PWI Achievement Awards this year.

3. Bianca Belair- Speaking of Woman of the Year, another candidate for this award is Bianca. She made history by being in the main event of night 1 of Wrestlemania and beating Sasha Banks for the Smackdown Womens Championship and has success in defending it against Bayley, Zelina Vega and Carmella before losing the title to Becky Lynch at Summerslam. I feel that Bianca will be champion again by the end of the year.

2. Bobby Lashley- Bobby stood out as the flagbearer of Raw and moved up to main event status by winning the WWE World Championship by beating the Miz and then successfully defending the tile against Drew McIntyre at Wrestlemania Night 1 and defending against anyone that challenged him for it. Even though he lost the title to Big E in an impromptu match in Boston, Bobby will get back the title by the end of the year.

  1. Roman Reigns- When you talk about the top wrestler of the year this far, Roman is at the top. He has been a dominant champion since August 2020 and has become the top heel in WWE. His victories were impressive including beating Edge and Bryan Danielson(formerly Daniel Bryan) at Wrestllemania Night 2 at the same time in the triple threat match and beat John Cena at Summerslam. What more needs to be said about Roman and why he is the top wrestler in all of pro wrestling.

Now, let us move on to a major area of this country that was the talk of the wrestling world this week: New York City. Most recently, AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam sold out Arthur Ashe Stadium with other 20,000 people. This brings out an interesting question as far as a famous arena in New York and that is Madison Square Garden. I wonder if Pro Wrestling can thrive in New York City without Madison Square Garden and believe it or not, the answer is Yes. Their are two main reasons why:

  1. The rent of Madison Square Garden is high and most shows just break even after doing one of these shows. Also, the luster of being in MSG is gone and it has become more of a music venue and the home of the New York Knicks. The last event that rocked MSG was not even affiliated with WWE and that was the ROH/NJPW Supershow in April 2019.
  2. Other venues have become more wrestling friendly and the fans are more excited in these buildings , such as the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens. This is proof that their is an alternative for a wrestling company to have a successful and profitable event with that MSG feel.

On a final note, here are some quick predictions for WWE Extreme Rules tonight on pay-per-view and Peacock.

WWE Universal Title Match- Extreme Rules: Roman Reigns beat “The Demon” Finn Balor

WWE US Title Match- Triple Threat Match: Damian Priest beat Sheamus and Jeff Hardy

Smackdown Womens Title Match- Bianca Belair beat Becky Lynch to win the title

Raw Womens Title Match- Alexa Bliss beat Charlotte Flair to win the title

Smackdown Tag Titles- Usos beat Street Profits

That will do it this week for this edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. Have a great week and see you next Sunday Morning.

Sunday Mornings with the Nitro- 9/20/2021

Paul ” The Nitro” Skivers

Good evening and welcome to another Monday Night edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. Thanks for joining us. Today, I want to do something interesting. Most recently, Kenny Omega was named the number one wrestler in the PWI 500( the issue comes out in mid October.). So, I thought that I would give you my top 10 of the PWI 500, which is based on win-loss record, quality of opposition and momentum of the wrestler(which are the qualities that this list looks for). So, let us begin the countdown:

10. MJF- Love him or hate him, MJF has made a big impact in AEW so far this year with only one loss. His feud with Chris Jericho and the Inner Circle has been getting a lot of top billing in AEW and his promo work is at its best at the moment. Whether this will translates into an AEW Championship down the road remains to be seen.

9. Christian Cage- Christian has had a solid 2021 thus far by being the only man to pin Kenny Omega this year on television to win the Impact Wrestling World Title and has been mostly in the upper card teaming with Jurassic Express in six man bouts, while defending the Impact title on their television against Moose. he can definitely keep the momentum up if he can keep the Impact Title.

8. King Nakamura- Ever since winning the crown from Baron Corbin, he translated that win with an Intercontinental Title win over Apollo Crews. Also, he has been helping Rick Boogs with strategy in securing wins for him as well. he has done a pretty good job thus far in 2021.

7. Charlotte Flair- With her regaining the Raw Womens Championship over Nicki ASH, Charlotte has proven herself to be the alpha female in all of Raw. Will see what she does against Alexa Bliss and her cartoon antics, but do not be surprised to see her soon in AEW.

6. Kenny Omega- I asked the question in my tweet in previewing this topic if Kenny deserves the number one ranking? The answer is no, because every time he gets into trouble,Don Callis or the Young Bucks interfere in the match. He has devalued the title with his actions and his smug attitude. The real test will come in the form of Bryan Danielson at AEW Grand Slam in Queens. Will he step up like a true champion or will he falter like he always does down the stretch.

5. Big E- Winning the Money in the Bank and cashing it in to win the WWE World Title against Bobby Lashley was good and all that, but the question will be whether he can hold on to the title against the onslaught of Bobby Lashley? Time will tell on this one.

I will stop the countdown here and will pick it back up this Sunday. Until then, Have a good week and see you on Sunday for another edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro.

Sunday Mornings with the Nitro- 9/13/2021

Paul ” The Nitro” Skivers

Welcome to a Monday Night edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. I must apologize as I had an out of town commitment that needed to be done, but it is several hours until Raw is on USA, so let us not waste any time. Let us start with a question of impact.

With all the debuts that recently took place at AEW All Out on pay-per-view this past Sunday, I wanted to ask who made the most impact with their debut? there are two factors that I consider in answering this question: First, I gauge the crowd reaction as they came out on pay-per-view and how his or her actions affected the audience. Second, I wanted to look at how they used their momentum into AEW Dynamite this past Wednesday. After careful analysis on this question, my answer would have to be Adam Cole. Why? Here are two good reasons:

  1. The reaction that Adam got from the crowd was of shock. They did not know that he was going to show up that night at the pay-per-view. Then, he reunited with the Bucks and Kenny Omega to complete the Elite and at the same tome putting himself in that spotlight as a force to be reckoned with.
  2. He carried that momentum into Dynamite by having a confrontation with Tony Schiavone that drew natural heat and made Tony an unexpected babyface in this situation and their could be something interesting between the two down the road. Also, he had fire in his promo as he proclaimed that the Elite is at full strength and ready to conquer AEW, which the fans went nuts over.

With all those in mind, I will be watching to see where Adam Cole goes forward in AEW. It will be an interesting trip to say the least. Speaking of interesting, let us talk about the most underrated feud in wrestling today and one of its participants is not even a wrestler.

The feud between Thunder Rosa and Sirius XM host of “Busted Open” Dave Lagreca has been very entertaining and intense at the same time. It began when Dave decided to no longer be a Thunder Rosa fan and switched allegiances to Dr. Britt Baker. Thunder felt disrespected over the action and called out Dave on his choice. Dave refused and decided to call Thunder “Honey” and said that he is not changing allegiances. Thunder did not take too kindly to the ‘Honey” comment and challenged Dave to a match for Mission Pro Wrestling(an independent promotion in Mission, Texas) this past May. Dave accepted and live to regret it as Thunder delivered a beating to Dave that he will never forget. A week after the match, Dave gave a half-assed apology to Thunder and then went on a tirade about how he saved Mission Pro Wrestling. Ever since then, they have been playing mind games with each other to the point that Dave’s wife has sided with Thunder and invited her over to the house. Dave was steamed and vowed that Thunder will pay the price if she stepped foot in the house. This is an entertaining angle between these two with intense promos and shows the fans how much disdain they have for each other. You should pay attention to this situation.

That is it for this edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. Thank you for joining us. Until next time, have a good week and see you next Sunday Morning.

Sunday Mornings with the Nitro- 9/5/2021

Paul ” The Nitro” Skivers

Welcome to another edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. Thank you for joining us. Before I start, I would like to send my condolences to the family and friends of Shannon Spruill, who competed as Daffney in WCW in the late 1990’s and TNA in 2004, who tragically took her own life this past Thursday. It is sad to know that someone who had such love for all her fans was going through mental issues and depressions. If you are suffering through any mental issues and need someone to talk to, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline l at 1-800-273-8825. In closing, this edition is dedicated to Shannon. We will miss you and thank you for your energy and good spirit towards everyone. Now, let us go on to something positive and we begin with some observations about the 2021 PWI Poll.

The 2021 Pro Wrestling Illustrated Poll was released in this month’s edition of the magazine, and I saw some interesting stuff about the results. Here is some of those insights:

  1. In the first 14 questions alone, the fans selected the option “Other” than any of the higher percentage wrestlers that were in the category. For instance, when asked who pound for pound is the best wrestler today is the “Other” category that got 59% of the fans vote versus the 25% of votes for the top vote getter- Kenny Omega. Some of the other vote getters were Roman Reigns, Will Ospreary and Kazuchika Okada. The fans are not going to jump on anyone’s bandwagon at all.
  2. As far as the top organization, AEW was dominant in several categories with WWE shows like Raw and Smackdown coming in second by 10-15% less. Based on the fan’s answers, they have made their choice as to what they want to watch more of this year.
  3. Tony Khan is the second most influential person in pro wrestling next to Vince McMahon. Yet, I think the way they asked the question in assuming that Vince is the most influential in today’s current scene is not exactly agreed upon by most of the fans out there based on Tony bringing in major talent that are free agents and getting huge ratings from their television shows. So, who is influential now?!

If you want to read all the results of the poll, then pick up your copy of Pro Wrestling Illustrated available now at all news stands everywhere. Now, let us talk about the controversial “shoot” between Nia Jax and Charlotte Flair.

The match between Charlotte Flair and Nia Jax on Raw this past Monday was a shoot fight, and this could be the reason that Charlotte could leave WWE to AEW. Nia has a history of throwing real punches and being unsafe to wrestle in the ring and this is the latest example. I feel that Charlotte will have had enough of this and ask for her release. She is going to lose the Raw Women’s Title quickly and get out of there quickly. The longer she stays in WWE with the real possibility of her having a program with Nia is too much for Charlotte to take as a professional. I do not know what to say about Nia. One of these days, Karma is going to come back on Nia for all those instances of shooting with her opponents and being unsafe in the ring. In closing, the sooner this situation is over, the better for all involved.

Well, that is it for this edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. Until next Sunday morning, have a great week everyone and be a friend when someone needs to talk. It can help make their day better.

Sunday Mornings with the Nitro- 8/29/2021

Paul ” The Nitro” Skivers

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. It has been a very busy week in the world of pro wrestling and on this edition, I will take a look back at that week with my thoughts. So, grab a hot cup of coffee and get ready as we begin with an epic return on AEW Rampage.

The return of CM Punk to pro wrestling on AEW Rampage on August 20th 2021 will go down in history as the day AEW became the number 1 organization in the world. Just listening to the crowd alone proves that the fans choice has definitely changed and with the possible arrivals of Bryan Danielson, Bray Wyatt, Ruby Soho(formerly Ruby Riott) and Ric Flair is proof that AEW is taking over the wrestling world. Along with the roster that they have at this time, AEW is poised to make the WWE look second rate and I would not have seen this coming in my many years as a fan. As far as Punk goes, he will be the biggest influencer in the current state of wrestling in AEW along with the possible matchups featuring Punk(we will already be seeing one of those bouts with Darby Allyn at All Out in September)against this young roster will be exciting in the future. On a closing note, I am personally excited and glad that CM Punk is back in pro wrestling and looking forward to seeing him in action real soon. However on the other side of the coin, it is time to see how the WWE is doing as the number 2 organization in the world and it does not look so good after Summerslam!

Some random thoughts about Summerslam last Saturday Night in Las Vegas:

  1. Is it me or was the crowd in Las Vegas not into the action. It seemed that a small portion of the crowd notably at ringside were the ones that were the most vocal, while the rest of the crowd just was not interested at all. It is a tell tale sign of things to come.
  2. Becky Lynch’s return was shocking and her quick win over Bianca Belair was even more shocking. I mean Bianca deserved a longer match to make it look competitive in her losing the title. Also, where was Sasha Banks? The WWE says that she was not “medically cleared”, but I do not buy that excuse at all. I am saying that Sasha may have been released by Nick ” Mr. Release” Khan and I will not be surprised if Sasha Banks will be joining AEW. Can you imagine the impact Sasha will have on the women’s division in AEW? As far as Becky goes, it will be a wait and see if “The Man” can make an impact on a lackluster women’s division on Smackdown.
  3. Bill Goldberg needs to stay retired. He was basically carried by Bobby Lashley throughout the match and it did Bobby no favors in his progression as WWE World Champion.
  4. Roman Reigns stepped up as the top heel in the WWE in beating John Cena at Summerslam and the Bloodline is the top faction in WWE right now. As far as Brock Lesnar’s surprise appearance goes, it will be interesting to see how Paul Heyman will handle this situation. Brock vs. Roman will be a bigger feud this time than the last time they feuded with the role of Bad Guy/Good Guy being switched with Brock now being a good guy.
  5. Edge vs. Seth Rollins is a candidate for Match of the Year and this feud is over. Edge will more than likely move on to challenge for the Universal Title one more time, while I believe that Seth may move to Raw to challenge Bobby Lashley for the World Title. Great effort by both men in this match.
  6. As far as the rest of the show goes, it was uneventful as we all knew that most of the winners were in line of getting a push in the WWE, but is was just uneventful for me.

That will do it for this edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. On the next edition, I will break down some of the hottest questions in the 2021 Pro Wrestling Illustrated Poll. Their were some interesting results to these questions. Until next time, have a great week and see you next Sunday Morning.

Sunday Mornings with the Nitro- Special Friday Edition: 8/13/2021

Paul” The Nitro” Skivers

Good evening and welcome to a special Friday Night Edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro! I thought that tonight would be a good night to give you my Summerslam predictions for the big event next Saturday Night. So, let us get to it!

Main Event: WWE Universal Title Match- Roman Reigns vs. John Cena

This will be an interesting main event as John is trying to surpass Ric Flair with the most title reigns with 17, but he will have a tall order in Roman. I do not know if the WWE is willing to end Roman’s reign as champion to Cena, who is a part-time wrestler and is more concerned about the next major blockbuster movie. Is the WWE is willing to gamble on Cena one more time? My instincts tell me no!

Winner: Roman Reigns

WWE World Title Match: Bobby Lashley vs. Goldberg

I cannot believe that the WWE is going through this match. Goldberg is past his prime by about 5 years and Bobby is setting to be the most dominant champion on Raw. I don’t even know why this match is going to happen.

Winner: Bobby Lashley

Seth Rollins vs. Edge

This is going to be a match of the year candidate as both men are at the peak of their current run. They have both delivered killer promos and have show a lot of intensity in their angle. Can Seth stop Edge’s momentum in 2021 or will Edge stop the egotistical Seth from running amock?!

Winner: Edge

WWE Smackdown Womens Title Match- Bianca Belair vs. Sasha Banks

This is a rematch that I am looking forward to as Sasha showed her true colors in that she did not like Bianca beating her at Wrestlemania. For Bianca , this is a true test in her reign as champion as she faces a focused and determined Sasha who is hell bent in getting her title back. For Sasha, she will go to any lengths to stop the reign of Bianca and avenge her loss at Wrestlemania.

Winner: Sasha Banks- New Smackdown Womens Champ

WWE Raw Womens Title Match: Triple Threat Match- Nicki ASH vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley

This will be a case of Charlotte and Rhea trying to destroy each other to get to Nicki, but Nicki will take advantage of this towards victory. Nicki is getting a huge push in this superhero gimmick and they are responding well to her. I feel that after this match, Charlotte Flair will be released by WWE and going to AEW by October.

Winner: Nicki ASH

Other Matches:

WWE US Title Match- Sheamus vs. Damien Priest

Winner: Sheamus

WWE Smackdown Tag Title Match: Usos vs. Rey/Dominick Mysterio

Winner: Usos

This will end my predictions for Summerslam and that will do it for this week’s edition of Sunday Mornings with the Nitro. I am taking next weekend off to observe Summerslam and will be back in two weeks with the next edition. Have a good Summerslam week and I will see you in two weeks.
